UKAS Accredited calibration certificate
A certificate displaying the UKAS Accredited logo, carries more creditability in the measurement world and is often the only certificate which is acceptable in many organizations. Having been granted Accreditation, improvements are always being sought, to skills, uncertainties and scope of Accreditation. Quality of measurements is maintained through internal audits and surveillance visits by UKAS; with measurement standards being submitted to the laboratory on a regular basis.
Recently, we have been allowed to display the ILAC Accreditation mark, which gives us International recognition, in those countries who use the ILAC Accreditation system rather than UKAS.
By being able to offer UKAS Accredited calibration, existing and new customers are using Alpha Electronics for their Accredited calibration needs. Where in the past, Alpha Electronics have aimed their service and calibration facilities at the electrical contracting markets, we can now offer, through UKAS Accreditation, calibration for the laboratory, research and educational fields to name a few. Precision reference equipment (e.g calibrators, long scale DVMs and individual reference standards) from manufacturers such as Fluke, Datron, Sullivan and Transmille can be calibrated and adjusted at a more competitive price than the manufacturers can offer.
New clients are now coming to Alpha for UKAS calibration as a result of legal requirements laid down in certain contracts. Our goal is to provide an affordable UKAS Accredited service, to many more areas of industry, including manufacturing and development, where we can cope with a wide variety of proprietary and 'In-House' built Test Equipment. A generic list is shown overleaf. However, if your requirements do not appear to fall within the list, then please contact the UKAS laboratory Manager (ukas@alpha-electronics.com) to discuss your requirements further.
Benefits of UKAS Accredited calibration
UKAS is the sole accreditation body recognised by the UK government, to access laboratories against Internationally agreed standards. A team of Technical experts initially scrutinise the laboratory and staff for competence and regularly make surveillance visits afterwards. To gain Accreditation, the following key factors were accessed.
Quality Manual
To cover all the relevant aspects and requirements of ISO17025:2005 and operation of the accredited facility.
Staff capabilities
Experience and time served in the industry with the Technical Manager requiring to have run a UKAS laboratory in the past.
Measurement budgets
For each measurement parameter that Alpha is accredited for. These budgets have to be statistically analysed, with many contributions being taken into account. Individual uncertainties are reported for each individual measurement.
Measurement procedures
These are generic including, circuits and connection diagrams, to ensure that, different calibration engineers will, using the procedures, obtain the same measurement results.
Laboratory environment
Lighting, heating, cooling and humidity control are adequate for the measurement tasks (Scope of Accreditation) covered.
Test Equipment
And traceability of standards, along with long-term history and evaluation of measurement standards is satisfactory and fit for purpose.
